Outdoor Program
They say 75% of Scouting is "outing", and we like to have an Outdoor program the Scouts can enjoy! We enjoy holding our meetings and adventures outdoors at Scout Park, learning different ways to build a fire, how to cook, first aid and much more! We can't forget about our Fall and Spring campouts with the Pack and Troop, Patrol campouts, or going to Camp Mitigwa for Summer Camp.
Below you will find basic information about our meetings and some of the activities we hold.
WCV Troop 167 holds weekly meetings every Monday from 5:30 - 7pm. Depending on the weather and activity, we meet at the following locations:

These activities can include:
Weekend campouts where Scouts practice their skills such cooking, lashing, orienteering, survival skills and much more!
How about day activities such as kayaking or floating down the river
Fancy yourself an expert axe thrower? How about you test your skills at the Ironside Axe Throwing.
How about a relaxing hike threw nature at one of Iowa's county or state parks
Leadership camps where Scouts learn how to be better leaders
Outdoor adventures are the key to Scouting, and Summer Camps are one of the great ways to have an adventure!
Every summer, Troop 167 attends a week long Residential Summer Camp at Camp Mitigwa, located up by Boone. While there, Scouts spend their time working on merit badges, swimming (even at dawn/dusk), climbing, repelling, ziplining, shooting sports and even mini high adventures!
Summer Camp is a great way for them to learn new skills, become better leaders, strengthen the bonds of the Troop or Patrols, make great new friendships that can last a lifetime, and even find opportunities to give back by joining the camp staff in future years!
Does your Scout want to challenge themselves while kayaking the crystal clear waters of Boundry Waters? How sailing, fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving and exploring the islands in the Florida Sea Base? Or do they see themselves exploring the wilderness of Great Northwoods on canoes or atv/utv?
These and many more are some of the High Adventures Scouts can go one while participating in Scouting! Troop 167 has gone on high adventures such as Philmount Scout Ranch, Northern Tier and Crazy Horse.
The Boy Scouts of America owns four National High Adventure Bases, including The Summit Bechtal Reserve, Philmount Scout Ranch, Sea Base and Northern Tier.
